Barnard Pre-College Programs provide young women with a community to grow and learn intentionally. Our programs are academically rigorous, enriching, and exploratory. They are designed to supplement student learning and encourage them to explore their interests.
Summer at Barnard
3-credit, in-person courses this summer in a variety of disciplines and taught by Barnard faculty. Open to Barnard students, Columbia students, visiting students from other colleges and universities, and a select number of pre-baccalaureate high school students.
Barnard College opens its facilities during the summer for external groups to host their summer program and our team works closely with Barnard departments on coordinating logistical components for their overnight summer conference.
Summer Research Institute (SRI)
Every year, for currently enrolled degree students, the Summer Research Institute facilitates funding and supportive programming for faculty-mentored student research at Barnard and Columbia University, as well as around New York City.
Internships and Externships
Internships offer an invaluable step toward focusing career goals and preparing for life after college. Barnard's location in New York City provides a distinctive advantage for students looking to intern during the academic year and also during the summer.
Summer Study Away/Faculty-Led Programs
Consider academic programs and course offerings held off-campus and internationally. Open to current Barnard students. Faculty-led programs are also open to Columbia students and visiting students. Programs are by application only with limited enrollments.
